In 2025, more than 3,000 people came out for the first Mid-Southern Hoedown. Families, riders, bourbon lovers, and music fans from all over Louisville and central Kentucky spent a day in the sun together — and asked us the same question on the way out: when is the next one?
This is the next one, and it is bigger. Kentucky's own Nappy Roots headlines. A trail ride opens the morning. There is a car show, a rodeo, a vendor village of local makers, bourbon tastings, line dancing, and a full kids' zone. And this year the celebration runs across five events over five weeks, not just one Saturday.

WHY THIS ONE
Bourbon, Blues & Boots exists to put Black cowboy culture back where it belongs — in plain view. Black cowboys and cowgirls built a huge part of this country's ranching and rodeo tradition, and most people have never heard their names. We tell that story through music, horses, food, and the kind of gathering where people actually see each other.
We do this in partnership with Roots 101 African American Museum, and with Adversity Skills, our 501(c)(3) charitable partner, whose mentorship work with young men is woven into the heart of this event.
